Baby- Friendly Hospital Initiative accreditation

The appraisal team by the Agency for Healthcare Quality and Accreditation in the FBiH (AKAZ) that carry out an external evaluation for accreditation of hospitals within the project Baby- Friendly Hospitals Initiative are visiting the Clinic of Gynecology of Obstetricion, University Clinical Center Tuzla. During the stay, they will evaluate the BFHI accreditation standards in our hospital.
The Clinic of Gynecology and Obstetrics, University Clinical Center Tuzla became a Baby- Friendly accredited facility in 2005, and the clinic is currently in the process of external evaluation for the maternity ward accreditation.

Dr Azra Karić, specialist in Gynecology and Obstetrics and leader of the appraisal team said:” The activities that we have carried so far included an examination of maternity ward, interviewing of maternity staff, pregnant women and mothers, and checking out on clinical documentation. We will make a preliminary report in the upcoming period, but the first impressions are positive.” she said.

Prof. Dr. Dženita Ljuca, head of the Clinic of Gynecology and Obstetrics said that the Baby- Friendly Hospital as indicated by the title represents the style and practices at the clinic that protect and support pregnant women, mothers and babies. Our next step would be to receive designation as a mother- friendly hospital, said Prof. Dr. Ljuca.
