September 22 is World CML Day

Celebrating World CML Day 2017, initiative to promote global awareness of chronic myelogenous leukemia, the Tuzla Canton Leukemia Society “Osmijeh” organized professional lecturing for people with CML and their families. The aim of this initiated event was to raise awareness of the needs of patients living with CML.This year, lecture on theme “Characteristics on Non- Hodgkin’s lymphoma” gave Dr Alma Halilbašić, hematologist. Interesting lecture on “Clinical algorithm of diagnosis and treatment of malignant lymphoma” delivered Ass. Prof. Samira Hasić, specialist in internal medicine.

On the theme “Lymphoproliferative disorders in the University Clinical Center Tuzla 2015-2016” spoke Dr Azra Jahić, president of the FBiH Association of Hematology and Transfusiology, who said that at the annual level there are 70 newly discovered cases of of lymphoproliferative diseases in Clinical Center Tuzla, which is not an increasing trend. However, in 2016, there was registered a trend of increase of Non- Hodgkin’s lymphoma in the advanced stage. Dr. Jahić in her speech also emphasized the importance of education of the population about this disease, its diagnosis, treatment and prevention that leads to early diagnosis.
This event was an opportunity to be noted that there is no CML Patient Registry in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
