The 13th Meetings on Neurology in Tuzla

During the weekend, the Hotel Tuzla was a venue for the 13th Meetings on Neurology in Tuzla. The invited speakers were eminent experts in the field of neurology from Kopenhagen, Zagreb, Zadar, Belgrade, Osijek, Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar.The scientific program of this event was organized in six sessions with 28 scheduled lectures, and it was an excellent opportunity for participants to learn the latest neuroscience information.

Opening remarks were given by Prof. Dr. Dževdet Smajlović, head of the Clinic of Neurology, Prof. Dr. Mirjana Vidović, president of the Association of Neurologists of the Tuzla Canton, Prof. Dr. Fahrija Skokić, medical director, prof. Dr. Selmira Brkić, dean of Medical faculty, and Dr. Amir Azabagić from the Ministry of Health. Meetings on Neurology was officialy declared open by Dr. Aleksandar Vujadinović, president of the city council.

Most speakers during opening sessions were focused on the importance of young colleagues affirmation in neurology, as well as continuing medical education and exchange of experience in order to provide the best health care services for end users. Prof. Dr. Vlado Đajić, director of the University Clinical Center RS was one of the invites speakers who said that neurology in Bosnia and Herzegovina is qualitatively at an enviable level, regardless of the small investments in health care system.” Neurologists from Federation and RS have been working together on education and neurological diseases prevention. Moreover, we are often together at different professional gatherings. We, neurologists in RS, have organized a project of 45000 free neurological examinations to determine the incidence of asymptomatic carotid artery disease in RS, and we have managed to reduce the stoke mortality by 50%.” said Prof. Dr. Džajić and gave an interesting lecture on this topic.

This year’s meetings on neurology were organized and hosted by the Clinic of Neurology, University Clinical Center Tuzla and the Association of Neurologists of the Tuzla Canton.
