The 7th Symposium on Lung Diseases with international participation was opened today in the Hotel Tuzla in the presence of numerous guests. The organizer of the symposium is the Clinic for Pulmonary diseases, University Clinical Center Tuzla with the support of the Society of Respiratory Medicine and the Tuzla Canton Medical Chamber together with Chamber of Nurses/Technicians.
During the opening ceremony, Ass. Prof. Suvad Dedić, head of the Clinic for Pulmonary Diseases in his welcome remarks thanked to management team and the Board of Directors of the University Clinical Center Tuzla for their wholehearted support for education and professional scientific exchange program. He also said that this year’s symposium through five sessions is sharing some of the trending themes in the fields of chronic obstructive lung disease, thoracic oncology and specific and nonspecific inflammatory diseases of the lung.
Prof. Dr. Zumreta Kušljugić, director for scientific work and education of the University Clinical Center Tuzla and Ass. Prof. Munevera Bećarević, president of the Board of Directors delivered welcome speech for the symposium attendees and guests. Ass. Prof. Bećarević is also one of the invited speakers in the scientific part of symposium. Throughout her speech, ass. Prof. Munevera Bećarević said that this gatherings provide the opportunity for experience and new information sharing between primary, secondary and tertiary health care professionals, but also it is a chance to establish new professional contacts.
Minister of Health of the Tuzla Canton Dr. Bahrudin Hadžiefendić in his speech commended the employees and doctors, pulmonologists from the Clinic for Pulmonary Diseases, who keep the continuity of good quality education and lecturing.
The Symposium was then formally declared open by Premier of the Tuzla Canton Government Jakub Suljkanović, who on the occasion said that the Government as the founder of Clinical Center Tuzla devotes special attention to its development, especially in hospital personnel and in a technical and material sense. He hopes that this support will continue in the future as well as the University Clinical Center Tuzla is considered to be one of the brands of the Tuzla Canton.
In the course of the symposium a promotion of the book by Ass. Prof. Suvad Dedić and Ass. Prof. Šefik Umihanić “Obstructive diseases of the respiratory system” was held. The promoters of the book were Prof. Dr. Zumreta Kušljugić, Prof. Dr. Hasan Žutić and Prof. Dr. Sead Jamakosmanović.
