The organizers of this medical event are the Clinic of Orthopedy, University Clinical Center Tuzla and Orthopedic Hospital Valdoltra from the Republic of Slovenia. The aim of organizers is to present the most recent accomplishments in shoulder pathology treatment and set up strategies in the treatment of ligaments.

The director of the University Clinical Center Tuzla Prof.Dr. Nešad Hotić in his welcome remarks said that our hospital has a comprehensive vision of development through continuing education for health care professionals. Throughout the year, we host about 40 professional conferences and meetings that bring to Tuzla about 10 000 healthcare colleagues, he said.

Dr. Alen Kamerić, head of the Clinic of Orthopedy while delivering a speech at the opening ceremony expressed satisfaction with the number of attendees and participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina and from the region at this event, and mentioned that the shoulder arthroscopy has been successfully implemented in practice in the University Clinical Center Tuzla.

In keynote address, the president of the Society of Orthopedy and Trauma of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Prof. Dr. Mirza Bišćević said that the main topic of this event is important and current one because the shoulder arthroscopy procedure is being performed only in few centers in our country, and the expectations of the organizer are that other medical centers after this meeting became more interested in starting this orthopedic surgery program.

One of the keynote speakers was Prof. Dr. Radoslav Marčan, director of Orthopedic Hospital Valdoltra from the Republic of Slovenia, who mentioned a Memorandum of Understanding that was signed in 2016 between the University Clinical Center Tuzla and Orthopedic Hospital Valdoltra, Slovenia. The MoA opened up new possibilities for education, training and exchange of scientific and professional experiences in the field of orthopedic surgery, and today’s event is a sign of good cooperation as well, he said. He also explained that the shoulder arthroscopy is a minimally invasive endoscopic surgery that is being performed through two to three small incisions of about few millimeters, which results in less pain for patients, shortens the time of recovery, and reduces the cost of hospital staying.
