After signing the agreement between the University Clinical Center Tuzla, the Dental Center Alma and the Institute of Health Insurance of the Tuzla Canton, dental services for children with disabilities and developmental challenges are now available at the University Clinical Center Tuzla. A few days ago, a 10- year old patient underwent repair of 6 permanent teeth and extraction of two milk teeth under general anesthesia. The planned procedure went well, and the patient after short recovery in a Daily hospital was discharged.
With this agreement a wide range of dentistry treatments under general anesthesia for children with disabilities became available in our hospital. That means that a dentist prepared to work with an anesthesiologist will repair their teeth, and those that cannot be repaired due to caries will remove.
To access this procedure, parents and guardians of children with disabilities and developmental challenges need to contact the Legal Affairs Service of the Institute for Health Insurance of the Tuzla Canton and the staff of the Clinic for Children’s Diseases to schedule a dental treatment.
