A transplant surgery team from the University Clinical Center Tuzla performed a multiviscelar transplantation of the liver, two kidneys and two corneas at the end of the year 2019. The transplant team independently performed harvesting of donor’s multiviscelar organs and transplant surgery, except for the liver transplant surgery that was performed under guest expert supervisor Dr. Danko Mikulić from Clinical Center Rebro, Zagreb.
The immediate postoperative course is uneventful in all the patients who underwent transplant surgery.
The multidisciplinary team for transplant surgery program is consisted from health professionals from the Clinic for Anesthesia and Resuscitation, the Clinic for Surgery, the Clinic for Eye Diseases and the Clinic for Urology, while the great contribution to this transplant program made health professionals from the Clinic for Internal Medicine, the Polyclinic for Laboratory Diagnostics, the Polyclinic for Transfusion, the Clinic for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, and Hospital Pharmacy.
A successful organ donation from a cadaver and transplant surgery saved the lives of five patients, and certainly improved organization of the University Clinical Center Tuzla organ and tissue transplant program.
