Supporting the fight of Bosnia and Herzegovina against coronavirus (COVID-19), Richard Maša the Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to BiH in cooperation with UNDP handed over Real- Time PCR device to the University Clinical Center Tuzla today.

As he said on this occasion, the EU has been the most loyal and important partner to BiH that secured about 7 million EUR to procure the necessary medical equipment for medical institutions across BiH. Richard Maša also said that the value of PCR device with integrated extraction system is about 110.000 KM.

So far the city of Tuzla has received around 650.000 KM of quality medical equipment from the EU.

Prof. dr. Vahid Jusufović, director of the University Clinical Center Tuzla thanked the European Union for this favorable donation, and said that a new PCR diagnostic device will increase the current capacity of 300 tests per day to 450, which is very important for the Tuzla Canton. ” This device will not only be used to diagnose patients positive for Covid-19, but also to diagnose other diseases. The device is practical and suitable for PCR test kits from different manufacturers. Our canton has about 500.000 inhabitants, and with this device we can increase our daily total number of a COVID-19 tests.” said Prof. Dr. Jusufović.
