The project "Strengthening of the DOTS strategy in Bosnia and Herzegovina and improvement plan for the fight against TB, including MDR TB and infection control" financed by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria (GFATM), through UNDP as the primary recipient, adaptation and equipping of pharmacy premises, costing about 20.000 KM, was completed at the Clinic for Pulmonary Diseases and Tuberculosis, University Clinical Center Tuzla.
Thanks to the realization of the mentioned project, it has been upgraded management system of anti- tuberculosis drugs, which are procured and distributed in the area of Tuzla Canton through the Clinic of Pulmonary Diseases UCC Tuzla, and financed by UNDP GFATM funds. Also, the project of the National Programme for combating and preventing the spread of tuberculosis specified the formation of the Unit for TB control in Tuzla Canton area. Members of the Unit are Ass. Prof. Sead Jamakosmanović, Ass. Prof. Munevera Osmić, Dr. Amira Kurtović as coordinators; Dr. Nermina Mehinović, an epidemiologist, Dr. Alma Imamović, microbiologist and Raza Gulamović, graduated nurse and manager for medication. Members of the Unit to control tuberculosis have the task to collect and analyze all data on TB in the area of Tuzla Canton.
UNDP in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and the Department of Public Health Federation of B&H is continuously providing support to the Units for the control of TB in order to apply the recommendations of the World Health Organization and the requirements of the EU in the fight against TB.
