A working meeting was held at the Office of the Chief Cantonal Prosecutor of Tuzla Canton between representatives of the Tuzla Canton Prosecutor’s Office and the University Clinical Center Tuzla (UKC Tuzla), with the goal of enhancing institutional cooperation in the area of medical documentation exchange.
The discussions focused on improving coordination between all relevant organizational units of UKC Tuzla and the Prosecutor’s Office, particularly in relation to the collection of medical records necessary for the effective conduct of criminal proceedings.
Special emphasis was placed on optimizing procedures for the timely and accurate provision of medical data concerning injured parties, both in urgent and standard legal cases, as well as the formal extraction of medical records for use as evidence in criminal investigations and trials.
The participants underscored the importance of adhering to the provisions of the Law on Personal Data Protection, in order to ensure the lawful handling of sensitive medical information and to safeguard the privacy of all individuals involved in legal proceedings.
It was agreed to continue ongoing activities related to the management and legal processing of individuals with mental disorders, as well as juvenile offenders who are suspected or accused of committing criminal offenses.
These efforts are vital for the efficient resolution of such cases, ensuring that both persons with mental health conditions and minors are treated in accordance with applicable legislation, with full respect for their rights, dignity, and specific needs.
The leadership of the Tuzla Canton Prosecutor’s Office and the University Clinical Center Tuzla agreed that strengthening inter-institutional cooperation is essential for enhancing the efficiency and quality of evidentiary procedures in prosecutorial cases.
By harmonizing practices and procedures, both institutions aim to improve the process of collecting medical evidence, thereby ensuring more secure, timely, and effective conduct of criminal proceedings.
During the meeting, concrete steps were agreed upon to further develop and monitor cooperation in this area, with the shared goal of enhancing the overall performance and coordination between the two institutions.
