A team from the Thyroid Department of the Clinic of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the University Clinical Center Tuzla (UKC Tuzla) actively participated in the 12th Balkan Congress of Nuclear Medicine, held in conjunction with the 17th Panhellenic Congress of Nuclear Medicine in Athens, Greece.
This prominent scientific event brought together leading experts in nuclear medicine from across the Balkan region and Europe, offering a valuable platform for the exchange of knowledge, clinical experiences, and the development of inter-institutional collaboration.
UKC Tuzla made a strong impression with three oral presentations, underscoring the institution’s ongoing commitment to high-quality scientific research and its growing contribution to the field of nuclear medicine.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sci. Belkisa Izić, Dr. Med. Prim., Nuclear Medicine Specialist, delivered two presentations: ” Scintigraphic Methods in Patients with Prostate Cancer” and “Comparison of MIBI Scintigraphy of the Parathyroid Glands and Ultrasound in Patients with Primary Hyperparathyroidism”.
Dr. Džana Nuhanović presented the results of a comprehensive research project titled: “Thyroid Cancer in the Tuzla Canton Area: A 5-Year Study (2020–2025)”.
Commenting on the significance of the congress and UKC Tuzla’s participation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Belkisa Izić stated:
“The Balkan Congress of Nuclear Medicine is of great importance for our profession, as it enables the establishment of professional connections with colleagues from the region and Europe, opening doors for further scientific and professional collaboration. These gatherings offer a valuable opportunity to present our own clinical experiences and research findings. At this congress, we showcased results from recent work and established meaningful contacts with colleagues from other nuclear medicine centers, which will undoubtedly contribute to the continued improvement of our clinical practice.”
