The topic of health care for returnees and the continuation of cooperation between the City of Zvornik and the University Clinical Center Tuzla was discussed today during a meeting between the President of the Zvornik City Assembly, Mr. Rahman Nukić, and the Director of the University Clinical Center Tuzla, Prof. Dr. Šekib Umihanić.
“The reason for my visit today concerns the treatment of returnees, which is financed through transfers from the budget of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, via the Federal Ministry of Health and the Health Insurance and Reinsurance Institute of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. For a long time, we have been facing the issue that the allocated funds for the treatment of returnees are insufficient to cover the actual costs. We have often feared that the University Clinical Center Tuzla might be forced to suspend providing medical services to this population. However, today Director Umihanić assured us that, despite these financial challenges, the University Clinical Center Tuzla has never discontinued providing health care services to returnees residing in Republika Srpska. We are extremely grateful to Director Umihanić and all employees of the University Clinical Center Tuzla for their continued support and dedication, which are of immeasurable importance to us,” said Mr. Rahman Nukić, President of the Zvornik City Assembly.
Director Prof. Dr. Šekib Umihanić emphasized that, despite all challenges, the University Clinical Center Tuzla will continue to provide health services to returnees, but underlined the importance of securing stable funding to ensure uninterrupted support.
“Due to the insufficient funds, the University Clinical Center Tuzla has repeatedly addressed the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the relevant ministries, and the Health Insurance and Reinsurance Institute of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, requesting additional resources and clear guidance for further action, as the current allocations do not cover the actual costs of treatment for returnees. We will continue to insist on recognizing the seriousness of this issue and expect that the competent institutions will ensure stable and adequate financing so that the treatment of returnees can proceed without disruption. Despite these financial and administrative difficulties, the University Clinical Center Tuzla has been and will remain a strong pillar of support for all patients who seek our help, including returnees residing in Republika Srpska. Our mission is clear- to treat, assist, and support all in need, regardless of the challenges we face,” stated Director Umihanić.
