Representatives of the Association of Women with Breast Cancer and Other Malignant Diseases “Moja istina” visited the University Clinical Center Tuzla (UKC Tuzla), where they donated several copies of their book “My Truth.”
This publication is a collection of personal testimonies from women who have overcome some of the most serious illnesses of today. Through their stories, they describe the moment of discovering the disease, the challenges of therapy, and the emotional journey of confronting fear and trauma. Their narratives also bear witness to the strength of will and resilience that helped them overcome numerous obstacles.
The book features around forty stories shared by members of the Moja istina association. Through mutual support and regular gatherings, these women exchanged experiences that fostered connection, understanding, and empowerment within their community.
The Director of the University Clinical Center Tuzla, Prof. Dr. Šekib Umihanić, received the representatives of the association. They once again expressed their sincere gratitude for his understanding and dedication in addressing the challenges faced by oncology patients.
“It is a special pleasure for me to receive the book published by the Association Moja istina, whose pages contain authentic, courageous, and deeply personal stories of women who have endured a difficult struggle with malignant diseases.
When I assumed the position of Director of the UKC Tuzla, one of my first steps was to meet with associations of oncology patients to address the challenges they were facing. At that time, I promised that I would do everything in my power to secure a linear accelerator with accompanying equipment and to improve the treatment of oncology patients at UKC Tuzla.
We succeeded. We acquired a linear accelerator with all necessary equipment and provided education for our staff in both European and domestic centers. Once these goals were achieved, I organized another joint meeting, where we shared our satisfaction with the results in a warm and supportive atmosphere. We will continue to work on improving the conditions and ensuring the availability of modern treatments for our oncology patients. This book, and every authentic story within it, will serve as strong motivation for our ongoing efforts,” said Prof. Umihanić, expressing his gratitude to the members of the Moja istina Association for the valuable gift.
The book “My Thruth” brings forward true stories of women who have faced various forms of malignant diseases. These stories are told bravely, honestly, and without embellishment, offering insight into what the path of treatment looks like and highlighting the importance of support, knowledge, and prevention.
“Women who are currently going through the most difficult diagnoses and treatments will have the opportunity, through this book, to understand that there is hope, there are women who, despite long and exhausting treatment processes, managed to fight, overcome obstacles, and emerge victorious,” emphasized Murisa Bričić, president of the Moja istina Association in Gračanica.
