In recent days, the University Clinical Center Tuzla (UKC Tuzla) hosted working meetings between representatives of the Turkish medical group Medical Park and the Director of UKC Tuzla, Prof. Dr. Šekib Umihanić.
The meetings focused on advancing the ongoing agreement on professional collaboration and the education of young doctors and residents.
Following a review of UKC Tuzla’s needs in medical education and an overview of plans for the upcoming period, the Medical Park delegation, led by Emina Ihtijarević, Director of Medical Park for Bosnia and Herzegovina, held a working session with Prof. Dr. Ervin Alibegović, Assistant Director for Teaching and Scientific Research.
Presentations and professional discussions took place at the Clinic for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, the Clinic for Ear, Nose, Throat and Head and Neck Surgery, and the Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology.
During the meetings, priorities and specific areas for future professional development initiatives were identified, laying the groundwork for continued collaboration and training.
Based on the signed agreement on professional cooperation between UKC Tuzla and the Medical Park Group, the implementation of planned training programs has commenced, and the first groups of UKC Tuzla doctors have already visited Medical Park hospitals in Turkey.
Earlier activities included visits from Turkish experts and hands- on training for UKC Tuzla doctors in the independent application of port catheters for oncology patients. The placement of a port in the neck’s blood vessels, among other benefits, enables chemotherapy administration with significantly fewer punctures and reduced damage to peripheral veins, greatly improving patient comfort.
“Continuous education of our young medical staff and the ongoing enhancement of professional competencies are among the key priorities of UKC Tuzla, which I have the honor to lead. Cooperation with the Medical Park Group provides access to modern working methods, advanced technology, and international best practices, which directly improves the quality of healthcare services we provide to our patients. The collaboration so far has produced outstanding results, and I am confident that the next round of training will further strengthen our capacities and elevate the quality of patient care,” said the Director of UKC Tuzla, Prof. Dr. Šekib Umihanić.
According to Emina Ihtijarević, Director of the Medical Park Group for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Medical Park is especially pleased to continue its collaboration with UKC Tuzla, one of the country’s leading healthcare institutions.
“Our goal is to support the strengthening of medical teams and enhance patient access to modern therapeutic approaches through professional development and knowledge exchange. We are delighted that the training programs are being successfully implemented and look forward to launching new joint projects in the coming period,” said Director Ihtijarević.
