The Association of BH Doctors in Germany and the University Clinical Center Tuzla (UKC Tuzla) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, formally establishing and further strengthening their partnership in the field of professional development and the exchange of medical knowledge.
The Memorandum aims to create a structured framework for cooperation that will enable study visits of doctors from the University Clinical Center Tuzla to healthcare institutions in Germany. It also envisages the transfer of modern medical knowledge, expertise, and best clinical practices from Germany to Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the development of joint professional, educational, and scientific activities of mutual interest.
Through this cooperation, doctors from UKC Tuzla will have the opportunity to gain firsthand experience within advanced healthcare systems, participate in professional training, and exchange knowledge with colleagues working in German medical institutions.
The Director of the University Clinical Center Tuzla, Prof. Dr. Šekib Umihanić, emphasized that the signing of the Memorandum represents an important step forward in strengthening the international cooperation of the institution. “Such forms of cooperation enable our doctors to establish direct professional contacts with highly developed healthcare systems and modern treatment approaches. In the long term, this significantly contributes to improving the quality of healthcare services we provide to patients in the Tuzla Canton and beyond,” stated Director Umihanić.
Vice President of the Association of BH Doctors in Germany, Dr. Nisada Rehić- Skokić, stated that the Memorandum represents a continuation of the Association’s long- standing mission to make the knowledge, expertise, and professional experience of Bosnian doctors from the diaspora available to the healthcare system of Bosnia and Herzegovina. “Our goal is to build strong and sustainable bridges of cooperation between colleagues in Germany and those in Bosnia and Herzegovina through concrete exchange programs, education, and joint professional projects,” emphasized Dr. Rehić-Skokić.
The signed Memorandum forms part of the broader strategic approach of the Association of Bosnian Doctors in Germany, which systematically develops cooperation with hospitals and clinical centers across Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through this strategy, the Association aims to contribute to strengthening the capacities of the domestic healthcare system, enhancing the professional competencies of medical staff, and establishing long- term professional partnerships between healthcare institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Germany.
The Association of Bosnian and Herzegovinian Doctors in Germany (BHÄG) brings together physicians of Bosnian and Herzegovinian origin who work in healthcare institutions throughout Germany. Through study visits, professional exchanges, education, and mentoring programs, the Association actively contributes to capacity building in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the exchange of medical knowledge, the transfer of modern medical technologies, and the overall improvement of the healthcare system, with a particular focus on creating sustainable and long- term cooperation between the diaspora and institutions in the homeland.
