The President of the Myeloma Association in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zlatan Planinčić, visited the University Clinical Center Tuzla, where he held a working meeting with the Head of the Clinic for Hematology and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azra Jahić, and the Head Nurse of the Clinic, Sanela Suljić, a graduate nurse.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the Association and the University Clinical Center Tuzla. Particular emphasis was placed on the joint organization of an expert meeting scheduled for the end of March 2026.
According to Zlatan Planinčić, the “Myeloma in BiH” Association is dedicated to providing support to patients diagnosed with multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndrome, and other rare hematological diseases, as well as to their families across Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Association was founded at the end of 2016 and has been actively operating for the past seven years. “The cooperation between the Association and the Clinic for Hematology and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation of the University Clinical Center Tuzla is already at a very high level, and we aim to further expand it through new joint projects. In this context, we have agreed to co- organize the first professional meeting to be held in Tuzla, which will bring together myeloma patients as well as medical experts from the University Clinical Center Tuzla. We also reached an agreement to ensure a multidisciplinary approach by inviting specialists from various medical fields, who will present their experiences and the latest treatment guidelines for these diseases,” emphasized Planinčić.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azra Jahić, Head of the Clinic for Hematology and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation, also expressed her satisfaction with the meeting, emphasizing that the Clinic remains open to all forms of cooperation with the Myeloma Association in BiH. “In 2025, 25 new cases of myeloma were registered at the University Clinical Center Tuzla. At present, 95 patients with this disease are being treated at the Clinic for Hematology and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation. In addition to patients from Tuzla Canton, we also provide care for patients from Posavina Canton and the Brčko District,” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jahić.
The meeting also addressed the launch of the pilot project “Web Portal- A Doctor When I Need One,” which would actively involve hematologists, internists, psychologists, and nutritionists. Under this initiative, physicians would be available for two hours per week via a web application to respond to questions from patients and their families.
