The University Clinical Center Tuzla (UKC Tuzla) brought together more than 500 participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad through the organization of four significant scientific and professional events held in a single day.
As a leading educational center, the UKC Tuzla successfully implemented a series of advanced educational programs, including the Tuzla Neurological Meetings, educational activities for healthcare professionals and patients marking World Voice Day and World Liver Day, as well as specialized training in the field of breast magnetic resonance imaging.
With strong enthusiasm and dedication, UKC Tuzla once again demonstrated that continuous staff education represents a cornerstone of its development strategy.
“Our vision is integration into the European scientific community. Continuous education of our staff, under the guidance of distinguished international experts, enables the immediate application of the latest technological advancements in clinical practice. By fostering an environment that values and embraces excellence in knowledge, we not only improve the quality of healthcare services but also encourage the ongoing professional development of our experts,” said the Director of the UKC Tuzla, Prof. Dr. Šekib Umihanić.
The day’s program began with the opening ceremony of the 17th Tuzla Neurological Meetings, held at the Salis Hotel. The event is organized by the Clinic for Neurology of the UKC Tuzla in cooperation with the Association of Neurologists of the Tuzla Canton.
This year’s central theme, “Neurological Bridges of the Region,” highlights the importance of connecting knowledge, experience, and generations of experts. The meeting gathered around 300 participants and 40 lecturers, who presented the latest research findings and clinical experiences in neurology across nine thematic sessions.
Simultaneously with the opening of the neurological meetings, an educational workshop for physicians and radiological engineers commenced at the Clinic for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. The training was led by an internationally recognized expert in magnetic resonance imaging, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maja Marolt Mušič, Head of the Department of Radiological Diagnostics at the Oncology Institute in Ljubljana. The workshop aimed to enhance the professional competencies of medical staff and ensure the continuity of high- quality diagnostic services in the field of magnetic resonance imaging.
On the same day, the Choir of Laryngectomees at the UKC Tuzla marked World Voice Day. The central program began with expert lectures delivered by physicians and speech therapists from the Clinic for Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases and Head and Neck Surgery. This was followed by a moving performance by the Choir of Laryngectomees Tuzla, symbolically demonstrating the strength of will and highlighting the importance of successful rehabilitation after demanding surgical procedures.
Following the lectures, preventive examinations were organized for all interested citizens at the Clinic for Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases and Head and Neck Surgery. Additionally, healthcare professionals from the clinic engaged with citizens at the city square, distributing educational materials and providing practical advice on the importance of early symptom recognition and timely treatment.
In parallel with World Voice Day activities, the UKC Tuzla also marked World Liver Day through a series of educational lectures. The speakers emphasized the importance of this vital organ, focusing on liver disease prevention, early detection, and the role of continuous public health education.
These four events, held within a single day at the University Clinical Center Tuzla, reflect a strategic commitment by the institution’s management to not only improve the quality of patient care but also to create an environment where young professionals can recognize and develop their career prospects. Alongside ongoing investments in infrastructure, staff education, and advanced medical equipment, the Center continues to carry out all daily activities and patient care services without interruption, ensuring the highest standards of healthcare delivery.
