The Clinic for Invasive Cardiology at the University Clinical Center Tuzla continues to enhance the quality of healthcare services through the implementation of modern medical practices, supported by continuous professional education and strong international collaboration.
Dr. Mirza Smajlović, Head of the Department of Endovascular Angiology, recently participated in a highly specialized clinical training program, “EMEA PV Lower Limb Clinical Immersion,” held in Belgrade. This program focused on the application of the latest international guidelines in the treatment of peripheral arterial disease affecting the lower extremities.
The training brought together experts from Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, and included intensive hands-on work in the angiosuite, with direct application of advanced endovascular techniques.
By integrating newly acquired knowledge and skills into everyday clinical practice, the Clinic for Invasive Cardiology and the Department of Endovascular Angiology are further improving diagnostic and therapeutic protocols. This ensures that patients with complex vascular diseases receive care aligned with the highest international standards.
Timely and precisely guided endovascular interventions significantly increase the likelihood of limb preservation, even in advanced stages of peripheral arterial disease, thereby reducing the need for amputation.
At the same time, the application of modern diagnostic modalities and high- quality medical devices contributes to improved long-term vessel patency and decreases the need for repeated hospitalizations.
“Continuous education and the exchange of knowledge with international experts are essential for improving the quality of our work. Through active participation in advanced training programs, we strengthen our professional capacities and further develop international cooperation, with the ultimate goal of providing our patients with treatment in line with the highest global standards. I am particularly pleased that our colleagues have recognized the efforts and quality of work at the Clinic for Invasive Cardiology of the University Clinical Center Tuzla. This recognition represents both a responsibility and a strong motivation for us to continue striving for excellence,” emphasized Dr. Mirza Smajlović, specialist in internal medicine and subspecialist in cardiology.
