Oncology consilium:
Oncology consilium consists of a multidisciplinary team involving a range of health professionals ( a surgeon of a certain specialty, a pathologist, a medical oncologist, a radiation oncologist, a clinical pharmacologist, etc.), who evaluate patient’s medical records and makes clinical decision on cancer treatment modalities.
Oncology consilium working hours:
Monday: 12:00–14:00 (Breast cancer and malignant melanoma)
Tuesday: 09:00–11:00 (Malignant lung diseases) and 12:00–14:00 (Multidisciplinary meeting for malignant gynecological diseases)
Wednesday: 12:00–14:00 (Osteosarcomas and soft tissue tumors in adults, and head and neck tumors; malignant gastrointestinal diseases)
Thursday: 12:00–14:00 (CNS and urological malignancies)
Friday: 09:30–12:00 (Multidisciplinary meeting for malignant gastrointestinal diseases)

- Conservative chemotherapy, targeted therapy with biological drugs and immunotherapy are carried out according to novel methods for cancer treatment
- Diagnostic services: biochemical, microbiological, immunological, CT/ MRI diagnostics (to monitor response to therapy), pleural and abdominal puncture
- 24- hour monitoring and the continuous critical care of patients
- Oncology patients and their family health education occurs across the continuum of care. A psychologist is engaged once a week.
DEPARTMENT FOR ONCOLOGY B

- The Department of Oncology has 26 beds.
- Conservative chemotherapy, targeted therapy with biological agents, and immunotherapy are administered, in line with contemporary standards applied in leading medical institutions worldwide.
- A wide range of diagnostic services is provided at the Department, including biochemical, microbiological and immunological analyses, CT/MRI diagnostics (for monitoring response to therapy), as well as pleural and abdominal punctures when indicated.
- Health education is provided for oncology patients and their families, and patient management is conducted in accordance with the nursing care process.
- A clinical psychologist participates daily as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
- Management of disease- related complications and therapy- induced complications is provided.

The department for radiotherapy has 10 hospital beds.

The Department of Radiotherapy at the University Clinical Center Tuzla is equipped with: a Canon Aquilion LB CT simulator for radiotherapy planning; one Elekta Versa HD linear accelerator with dual operating modes (photon and electron); a GammaMed Varian brachytherapy unit with an Iridium-192 source; the Monaco computerized system for 3D radiotherapy planning; the Impac MOSAIQ computerized system for data communication and storage; and a set of dosimetric equipment, including appropriate phantoms and ionization chambers.

The department provides irradiation services for oncology patients based on previous diagnostic and pathohistological examinations, 3D planning of conformal radiotherapy, teleradiotherapy of malignant tumors of all localization, and counseling and monitoring of patients after radiotherapy.

Health professional from the department regularly participate in the education and training programs for radiation health professionals organized by the European Society for Radiation Oncology (ESRO) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Given the technical and staffing capacities, the increased demand for radiotherapy services, and the fact that the Department of Radiotherapy of the Public Healthcare Institution University Clinical Center Tuzla provides healthcare services to patients from across the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, approximately 1,200 patients are treated annually at the Department of Radiotherapy of the University Clinical Center Tuzla.
