After the observation period, the infectious disease specialist, either independently or in consultation with other consulting physicians, makes a decision regarding further treatment (hospital admission, discharge for home treatment with recommendations, or referral to another clinic for continued care).
The establishment of the Day Hospital within the Clinic for Infectious Diseases offers numerous advantages for both patients and the healthcare institution due to the organization of work, shortened hospital stay, and the rationalization of all necessary resources and costs.
If, after observation in the Day Hospital, a decision is made to admit the patient for inpatient treatment at the Clinic for Infectious Diseases, the patient or family members must obtain an additional referral from the responsible physician in primary healthcare.
