Continuous Education and Scientific Research: A Commitment of Clinical Center Tuzla

Today, Professor Dr. Šekib Umihanić, Director of the University Clinical Center Tuzla, engaged in discussions regarding continuous education and scientific research alongside Assoc. Professor Zlatan Mehmedović, Head of the Clinic for Surgery, and Professor Dr. Samir Delibegović, President of the Association of Endoscopic Surgeons.

The purpose of the meeting is to explore collaboration opportunities between the Association of Endoscopic Surgeons in Bosnia and Herzegovina and healthcare institutions in Turkey, Switzerland, Croatia, and Slovenia in the realm of education. Additionally, discussions will center around the potential establishment of cooperation with Koç University Hospital in Turkey.

Professor Dr. Samir Delibegović said that the focus at the meeting was on presentation of the Association of Endoscopic Surgeons in Bosnia and Herzegovina activities with a special emphasis on education.

“We are strategizing to forge institutional collaboration between the University Clinical Center Tuzla and Koç University Hospital. This partnership aims to facilitate training opportunities for our staff in a premier Turkish hospital. Koç University Hospital boasts a state-of-the-art Center for Advanced Learning, encompassing a Center for Surgical Disciplines,” stated Professor Delibegović.

In his remarks, Associate Professor Zlatan Mehmedović, Head of the Clinic for Surgery, emphasized that the University Clinical Center Tuzla’s Clinic for Surgery holds a prominent position in education throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. He articulated the commitment to sustain its role as a leading referral center for surgical education through ongoing efforts.

“Our clinic hosts specialists from Mostar, Goražde, Konjic, Tešanj, Gračanica, and Brčko for continuous education. Our colleagues are eager to enhance their expertise by participating in programs at prestigious institutions worldwide. They then share their newfound knowledge with colleagues across Bosnia and Herzegovina,” stated Associate Professor Mehmedović.

Professor Dr. Šekib Umihanić, Director of the University Clinical Center Tuzla, expressed gratitude to his colleagues for their dedication and eagerness to enhance the development of the institution. He underscored the unwavering support of the University Clinical Center Tuzla’s management for the scientific research endeavors and educational initiatives of the Association of Endoscopic Surgeons in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the meeting, an activity plan for the current year was agreed. The director said again that the University Clinical Center Tuzla is committed to fostering the continual professional and scientific education of medical professionals and collaborators, both domestically and internationally. It was highlighted that the plan entails the execution of numerous projects in collaboration with partners spanning the USA, Germany, Turkey, Austria, Switzerland, France, Croatia, Serbia, Sweden, Norway, Great Britain, Italy, and the United Arab Emirates.
