The University Clinical Center Tuzla (UKC Tuzla) will host training in ultrasound of peripheral nerves from May 15 to 22, 2025. The organizers of the training in ultrasound of peripheral nerves are the University Clinical Center Tuzla and the Medical Chamber of Tuzla. The training is intended for specialists in neurology and physiatry, and the course leaders are Prof. Dr. Simon Podnar (KC Ljubljana) and Prof. Dr. Renata Hodžić (UKC Tuzla). The basic training in ultrasound of peripheral nerves is attended by ten participants who come from Banja Luka, Mostar, Zenica and Tuzla.
According to Prof. Dr. Simon Podnar, one of the course leaders, this training is the first of its kind to be organized in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ultrasound examination of peripheral nerves is still practiced by only a small number of healthcare professionals both in BiH and across the region. Prof. Podnar emphasized that, with recent technological advancements, ultrasound diagnostics have reached a level comparable to standard MRI for diagnosing nerve disorders.
Following the theoretical sessions, participants will proceed to the practical training, which will take place at the Clinic for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University Clinical Center Tuzla.
Currently, ultrasound of peripheral nerves is performed at the Clinic for Neurology within UKC Tuzla, and there are plans to introduce this diagnostic procedure at the Clinic for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in the near future.
