Nesib Malkić has been a recipient of the Golden Lily war decoration since 1993. In 1994, he was posthumously awarded the Order of the Hero of the Liberation War.
Commemorating events such as this affirms the continuity and identity of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The courage and sacrifice of these heroes have left an indelible mark on our collective memory, inspiring us to continue striving for a just and free homeland. What we can and must do is ensure that the names of our heroes are never forgotten, that every child grows up knowing who they were. If we succeed in that, we can truly say that we have triumphed over oblivion.
