A one-month educational course in cardiac ultrasound diagnostics concluded with a formal certificate award ceremony for ten participants, held in the amphitheater of the Clinic for Internal Medicine at the University Clinical Center Tuzla (UKC Tuzla).
The course was organized by the Department for Scientific Research and Professional Development of the UKC Tuzla, in cooperation with the Medical Chamber of the Tuzla Canton.
The primary objective of the program was to enhance and modernize the standard of cardiac ultrasound diagnostics, while strengthening physicians’ competencies in the practical application of echocardiography in everyday clinical work.
According to Prof. Dr. Ervin Alibegović, Assistant Director for Education and Scientific Research at the UKC Tuzla, the comprehensive training program consisted of both theoretical and hands-on components, conducted under expert mentorship. Participants were introduced to the latest advancements in echocardiographic techniques and their clinical significance, gaining valuable practical skills essential for contemporary cardiology practice.
The course leader, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elnur Smajić, emphasized that echocardiography is one of the safest non- invasive diagnostic methods in cardiology, enabling a comprehensive and detailed assessment of cardiac structure and function.
“This form of professional development is designed for physicians who wish to acquire, under expert supervision, the knowledge and practical skills necessary for the independent application of cardiac ultrasound diagnostics in clinical practice,” stated Assoc. Prof. Dr. Smajić.
The President of the Medical Chamber of the Tuzla Canton, Prof. Dr. Lejla Mešalić, highlighted that the Chamber will continue to play an active role in organizing professional education programs in the upcoming period. She also announced a series of forthcoming courses, including ultrasound diagnostics of the abdomen, color Doppler ultrasound of blood vessels, basic training in clinical electromyoneurography, a school of lung ultrasound, ultrasound in emergency medicine, ultrasound diagnostics of the neck organs, and breast ultrasound.
