The course in the field of Color Doppler ultrasound of blood vessels was successfully held at the University Clinical Center Tuzla from 7 to 13 April 2026.
The course was led by Prof. Dr. med. sc. Svjetlana Mujagić, a specialist in radiology and Head of the Clinic for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, and Prof. Dr. med. sc. Zikrija Dostović, a specialist in neurology and Head of the Clinic for Neurology at the University Clinical Center Tuzla.
Throughout the course, participants gained both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in Doppler sonography of blood vessels. Upon successfully completing the theoretical and practical examinations, participants were awarded certificates accredited by the Medical Chamber of the Tuzla Canton.
According to Prof. Dr. Ervin Alibegović, Assistant Director for Teaching and Scientific Research at the University Clinical Center Tuzla, continuous professional education is an essential component in improving the knowledge and competencies of healthcare professionals. He emphasized that the management of the institution, led by Prof. Dr. Šekib Umihanić, is fully committed to this process and continuously invests significant efforts in the development and implementation of educational activities.
“I would like to highlight that we operate through strong synergy with the Medical Chamber of Tuzla Canton, the University of Tuzla, and the Faculty of Medicine. In addition, our clinics maintain close collaboration and mutual support. The Color Doppler Ultrasound Course is an excellent example of such cooperation, jointly organized by the Clinic of Neurology and the Clinic for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. Lecturers from both specialties contribute to high-quality teaching, achieving excellent results in both the practical and theoretical segments. The transfer of knowledge and modern diagnostic methods remains one of our key priorities. The better educated our healthcare professionals are, the higher the quality of healthcare services, which directly contributes to the advancement of the healthcare system in Tuzla Canton,” emphasized Prof. Dr. Alibegović.
The course leaders also addressed the participants on this occasion. Prof. Dr. Svjetlana Mujagić emphasized that fifteen participants successfully completed the Color Doppler Ultrasound of Blood Vessels course.
“This type of professional training represents a significant step forward, as it enables a greater number of physicians to acquire essential knowledge and skills in the diagnosis of vascular diseases. This directly contributes to improving the quality and efficiency of patient care, as well as reducing waiting lists, both at the University Clinical Center Tuzla and in other healthcare institutions in the Tuzla Canton,” said the Head of the Clinic for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.
The Head of the Clinic for Neurology, Prof. Dr. Zikrija Dostović, also expressed satisfaction with the successful implementation of the training in Doppler sonography of blood vessels.
“The training was carried out in close cooperation with the Clinic for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, and I believe that the participants have every reason to be highly satisfied with the knowledge and skills they have gained. Vascular diseases are very common and present a serious challenge for both physicians and patients. Therefore, this type of education is of great importance, as it contributes to better understanding, timely diagnosis, and prevention of these conditions. Fifteen participants completed the basic course and acquired fundamental knowledge in ultrasound diagnostics of blood vessels, including both peripheral and cervical vessels. This represents an important foundation for their further professional development,” emphasized Prof. Dr. Dostović.
Admir Mukinović, a specialist in internal medicine and one of the course participants, expressed his gratitude and satisfaction with the training, highlighting the high quality of the program and the professional approach of the lecturers.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the University Clinical Center Tuzla, as a leader in medical education, as well as to the Medical Chamber of Tuzla for enabling us to continue our professional development. Considering the increasing incidence of vascular diseases and the growing need for this type of diagnostic approach, I will certainly apply the knowledge gained during this training in my daily work with patients.
In my everyday practice, this knowledge will be of great value, as I frequently encounter patients with systemic diseases that affect blood vessels. In such cases, timely and accurate diagnostics are crucial. The application of modern diagnostic methods allows for early detection of vascular diseases, significantly reducing the risk of complications and leading to improved treatment outcomes,” emphasized Mukinović.
The organization of the course in the field of Color Doppler Ultrasound of Blood Vessels was supported by the Medical Chamber of Tuzla.
The President of the Medical Chamber of Tuzla, Prof. Dr. Lejla Mešalić, highlighted that training programs organized in cooperation with the University Clinical Center Tuzla are consistently well attended, with participants coming from cities across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“A wide range of training programs is planned for this year. Each of our members, approximately 1,650 active physicians in the canton, has access to timely information about ongoing and upcoming educational activities through our official website. The Medical Chamber is committed to organizing the majority of these trainings locally, as we have highly qualified staff, modern equipment, and excellent teaching facilities within our healthcare institutions. Thanks to these conditions, our doctors no longer need to seek education abroad,” stated Prof. Dr. Mešalić.
