As part of a project to renovate and modernize facilities and acquire new medical equipment, carried out by the University Clinical Center Tuzla (UKC Tuzla) with the support of the Tuzla Canton Government, the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics has undergone a complete transformation. Following the renovation and adaptation of the premises, the postpartum ward now features brand new patient rooms and suites, each equipped with a private bathroom.
According to Prof. Dr. Šekib Umihanić, Director of UKC Tuzla, the Tuzla Canton Government allocated 600,000 KM from its budget for this project. Thanks to this support, the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics now looks completely different than it did before. Director Umihanić noted that the renovated area covers approximately 700 square meters and included a complete replacement of the interior joinery, flooring, and the entire electrical network, including the installation of an uninterruptible power supply system for use during power outages, as well as the replacement of all radiators and the creation of a brand-new, open-concept delivery area.
Following the completion of the first phase of work, the second and third phases are planned, entailing the complete renovation of the delivery room and the neonatal care unit, resulting in a total refurbishment of the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics.
The Tuzla maternity hospital is one of the largest in Bosnia and Herzegovina, handling approximately three thousand births annually. Its renovation and modernization represent a significant step forward in improving conditions for mothers and newborns.
