The First Professional Meeting ACAP in B&H with international participation

The First Professional Meeting of the Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in B&H with international participation, organized by the UKC Tuzla Clinic of Psychiatry and the B&H Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, was held yesterday. PSIHIJATRIJA - Simpozij (2)
The Meeting featured the participation of prominent experts in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry Prof. Dr. Klaus Schmeck from Switzerland and Prof. Dr. Susanne Schluter – Muller from Germany addressing the theme “Personality disorders in adolescence”. During their lectures, Prof. Schmeck and Prof. Schluter- Muller discussed the identified issues and problems related to child and adolescent psychiatry, clinical assessment of adolescent personality development and therapeutic approaches. The Meeting was intended for psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists and social workers.

According to the laws that protect the rights of people with mental illnesses, this Department shoulPSIHIJATRIJA - Simpozij (3)d have two separated programmatic divisions: Adult and Child, Adolescent Mental Health Units.” said Prof. Dr. Izet Pajević, head of the UKC Tuzla Clinic of Psychiatry. On this occasion, Ass. Prof. Nermina Kravić, chief of the Department for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry said that about 500 children and adolescents per year are being treated for behavioral developmental and psychotic disorders usually as an outpatients, but some of them are being hospitalized.
Prof. Klaus Schmeck especially highlighted the importance of placing the Department in adequate facilities that offer a faster pace to early diagnosis and treatment of children and adolescents.
