On the occasion of a pan- European campaign Euromelanoma 2016, the UKC Clinic for Skin Diseases held a public awareness action on skin cancer prevention, early diagnosis and treatment in the shopping mall Omega.
This year’s campaign for skin cancer prevention is held under the slogan “Sun is everywhere around you, not just at the beach”. The campaign aims to raise awareness of skin cancer, so that patients can continue to benefit from early detection of suspicious skin changes. Initiated in Belgium, this campaign has spread to 29 countries around the world.Bosnia and Herzegovina became an active member of Euromelanoma in 2011.
According to Dr. Selma Kamberović, dermatologist from the UKC Clinic for Skin Diseases, excessive ultraviolet ray exposure carries out the risk of more frequent occurrence of epithelial skin cancers and malignant melanoma.The prevention consists of providing information of proper UV ray protection and the risks of UV radiation exposure. Public action for citizens will also continue tomorrow, on Saturday, 14 May 2016, in the period from 11:00 to 13:00 hours, in the shopping mall Omega.
