Shoulder arthroscopy- new procedure at the Clinic for Orthopedy and Trauma

Today, the University Clinical Center Tuzla, Clinic for Orthopedy and Trauma hosted a press conference on the theme “Shoulder arthroscopy surgery”. The press conference attended Dr. Alen Kamerić, head of the Clinic for Orthopedy and Trauma, Dr. Mirza Avdić and Dr. Adnan Kešetović who spoke about the importance of the introduction of this surgical technique, its advantages and the potential benefits of arthroscopic surgery for patients.

Dr. Alen Kamerić said that the arhroscopic technique is a minimally invasive endoscopic surgery that addresses the problem of shoulder pain and motion limitation conditions with different etiologies. “Arthroscopy is a procedure that orthopaedic surgeons use to inspect, diagnose, and repair problems inside a joint”, he said.

While addressing the press Dr. Mirza Avdić explained that during shoulder arthroscopy, an endoscope with camera is inserted through two to three small incisions of about few millimeters. This results in less pain for patients, shortens the time of recovery, and reduces the cost of hospital staying.

At the end of the press conference Dr. Alen Kamerić announced that the Clinic for Orthopedy and Trauma will be able to offer very soon arthroscopic surgery of the ankle and elbow .
