The Clinic for Infectious Diseases is highly qualified for the treatment of patients diagnosed with acute and chronic infectious diseases. We offers evaluation, diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of infections within an outpatient polyclinic, cabinets, counseling services, inpatient hospital setting, and consilium- consultative services.

Our infectious diseases experts help people and offer treatment for:

  • Treatment of patients with acute respiratory infections of the upper respiratory system

  • Treatment of patients with acute gastrointestinal infections

The Clinic for Infectious Diseases is a teaching clinic of the Medical faculty, High Health School of the University of Tuzla, and Nursing School. The Clinic is committed to training of the next generation of infectious diseases specialist and subspecialist, and offers infectious disease residency program.

WORKING HOURS

  • Regular working hours: 8a.m.- 2 p.m.

  • On- call doctors on working days: 2p.m.- 8 a.m.

  • On weekends and holidays: doctor on- call 24 hours

ORGANIZING STRUCTURE

Admission and triage outpatient clinic

Admission and triage outpatient clinic serves for evaluation, care and treatment of patients. Working hours of outpatient clinic is 24hours.

An outpatient ambulance for consultation with specialist

An outpatient ambulance offers the first evaluation and of patients referred from primary health care or other clinic or hospital, as well as the follow up of patients after the discharge from hospital.

Working hours: Monday- Friday 9a.m.- 1 p.m.

Cabinets:

Cabinet for HIV/AIDS and other immunodeficiency conditions with counseling

Cabinet offers follow up of patients who receive antiviral therapy. Counseling services include voluntary, confidential and free rapid- HIV and Hepatitis C virus test. A referral from primary health care is not required for counseling and testing.

Working hours: 8 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Cabinet for hepatitis and blood- borne infections

Cabinet offers following health care services:

  • Follow- up after discharge; regular follow- up and treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis (B and C)

  • Follow- up of patients with acute viral hepatitis who are treated at the Clinic for Infectious Diseases and patients who are referred from primary health care and other hospitals

  • Health care services for employees after accidental events and reported injuries from sharp objects; recommendations and vaccination of employees against hepatitis B

  • Consilium for chronic hepatitis

DEPARTMENT FOR COVID-19

Observation- triage department

The department offers evaluation, observation and treatment of patients suspected to COVID-19 infection and patients with symptoms of infectious diseases. Observation may last up to 24 hours. After observation period and based on the patient’s condition, the competent doctor makes a decision on further treatment (admission to the hospital, referral to another clinic or recommendation for home treatment).

Isolation department

Isolation department offers observation and treatment of COVID-19 patients with a mild to moderately severe clinical picture who require additional diagnostics, therapeutic treatment and monitoring. Observation may last up to 24 hours, and patients are hospitalized with a referral from primary care or other hospital. After observation period and based on the patient’s condition, the competent doctor makes a decision on further treatment (admission to the Clinic for Infectious Diseases or recommendation for home treatment).

Department for semi- intensive care

The department for semi- intensive care provides treatment for patients with moderate and severe COVID-19 clinical symptoms who require critical care settings with continuous monitoring and high flow oxygen therapy. The department follows principles of patient- centered care and hygienic- epidemiological measures and procedures. Health professionals from the department provide health educational services to patients and families.

Department for standard care

The department offers health care treatments for patients with a moderately severe clinical picture who require hospital settings with continuous monitoring and oxygen therapy at a flow rate up to 10 L/min. The department follows principles of patient- centered care and hygienic- epidemiological measures and procedures. Health professionals from the department provide health educational services to patients and families.

The department offers health care services for patients with various infectious diseases who require hospitalization, continuous monitoring and clinical diagnosis and treatment.The department follows principles of patient- centered care and hygienic- epidemiological measures and procedures. Health professionals from the department provide health educational services to patients and families.
