The Clinic for Neurosurgery, University Clinical Center Tuzla is one of the largest dedicated neurosurgical center in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since its establishment, this clinic has encompassed a comprehensive neurosurgical procedures, ongoing scientific and research activity, education and neurosurgical training for students and residents, and modern neurosurgical patient care. The clinic is well equipped with modern surgical technology, and offers its patient modern diagnostic and treatment in line with the very latest status of scientific research. Our professional staff took neurosurgery specialty trainings in top ranked hospitals for neurosurgery in the USA, Germany, France and Croatia, and they are often active participants at domestic and international scientific conferences, meeting and courses. With academic neurosurgery residency training program this clinic is the teaching and training ground for students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tuzla.<\/p>\n

The clinic has 30 beds. Neurosurgical program is performed in two neurosurgery rooms and one angiography procedure room. In the post operative recovery the patients stay for a short period in the Intensive Care Unit of the Clinic for Anesthesia and Resuscitation. An outpatient clinic with several specialists ambulances is open every working day 8-16 hours, and provides patients with outpatient neurosurgical treatment, regular preoperative treatment and post operative check ups.<\/p>\n

Neurosurgery team consists of 7 doctors neurosurgeons, 1 doctor on a residency in neurosurgery and two secondary doctors.<\/p>\n

Areas of Work at the Clinic for Neurosurgery<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Clinic treats a large number of patients daily who require neurosurgical care.<\/p>\n

Neuro-oncology<\/strong> includes the treatment of all types of tumors in adults and children.<\/p>\n

Vascular neurosurgery<\/strong> includes surgical procedures for aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), and other vascular pathological formations of the brain. The program of endovascular neurosurgery services includes coiling of cerebral aneurysms, embolization of AVMs and tumors, and stenting of blood vessels of the brain and neck.<\/p>\n

Skull base surgery<\/strong> includes operative management of pathological processes located at the skull base.<\/p>\n

Pediatric neurosurgery<\/strong> includes procedures in patients with hydrocephalus, developmental anomalies, and neural tube closure disorders.<\/p>\n

Spinal neurosurgery<\/strong> includes surgical treatment of pathological processes in the spinal canal and disorders of the structure and function of parts of the spine.<\/p>\n

Stereotactic neurosurgery<\/strong> includes obtaining tissue samples for pathohistological analysis of changes in brain structures using a targeted approach with a stereotactic device.<\/p>\n

Peripheral nervous system neurosurgery<\/strong> includes surgical treatment of compressive neuropathies and peripheral nerve injuries.<\/p>\n

Neurosurgery of head trauma<\/strong> includes surgical management of cranio-cerebral injuries with continuous intracranial monitoring.<\/p>\n

In neurosurgical treatment, modern microsurgical procedures are applied in a scientifically verified and proven manner as the most appropriate approach.<\/p>\n
