ACTIVITIES OF THE CLINIC:<\/strong><\/p>\n The primary activity is the hospital treatment of patients at the secondary and tertiary levels of healthcare through diagnostics, treatment, surgical procedures, and patient care, as well as staff education. The daily activities of the clinic\u2019s employees include working on the prevention of diseases in childhood through the promotion of breastfeeding, nutrition, healthy lifestyle habits, a diabetes counseling center, an asthma school, and the application of monoclonal antibodies. A special place in preventive activities is occupied by the Laboratory for Early Detection of Inborn Metabolic Diseases, which serves as a diagnostic center for the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.<\/p>\n The Clinic for Children's Diseases is a teaching base for the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation, and the College of Health Studies of the University of Tuzla, and offers expertise and practical training for students of the Faculty of Medicine, the College of Health Studies, and students of the Secondary Medical School. Day Hospital<\/strong><\/p>\n Great attention is given to the psychosocial aspects of children\u2019s stay in the hospital, and in September 2009, a Day Hospital with a capacity of 7 beds was opened. Its primary goal is to provide comprehensive healthcare services in the fields of diagnostics and therapy for all children. It was established with the intention of performing diagnostic procedures as efficiently and quickly as possible, without the need for long hospitalization. Patients can be admitted to the Day Hospital with a referral from a family medicine or general practice physician, as well as without a referral, in which case the performed procedures are paid according to the approved price list of services.<\/p>\n A multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals works in the Day Hospital of the Clinic for Children's Diseases. Principles of a timely diagnosis, interventions and teamwork at our department contributed to the patterns of significant decline in neonatal mortality and perinatal harm. Prevention of hemorrhagic disease, hearing screening, metabolic screening of the abdomen and central venous system, physical screening for developmental dysplasia of the hip and genetic testing are carried out for every newborn. Neonatal diseases prevention includes administration of monoclonal antibody treatments for preterm infants of low gestational age against RSV infections, the administration of BCG and Hepatitis B vaccines for infants who have not been vaccinated. Our pediatric cardiologists work on early detection of congenital heart defects and organize transport of a little patient to hospitals for heart surgery. The department closely cooperates with the Clinic for Gyn\/ Obs department for newborns and the NICU. Prof. Dr. Amir Halilba\u0161i\u0107<\/p>\n Nurse in charge: Tatjana Praljak, MSc., graduated nurse<\/p>\n The department of pediatric surgery offers the full range of classic and innovative pediatric and neonatal surgical interventions (congenital anomalies of gastrointestinal tract, anterior abdominal wall, anorectal malformations, sacrococcygeal tumors), pediatric urology (congenital or acquired diseases of the kidneys, urinary tract and genitals, endoscopic treatment of vesico- uretral reflux), surgery of chest tumors, retroperitoneal and intra- abdominal tumors, surgery of burns and injuries of the chest and abdomen, and other acute surgical conditions in pediatric surgery. Our pediatric program and surgeons, who trained pediatric surgery worldwide provide expert neonatal surgery and surgery of congenital chest wall deformities.
