The Prime Minister of Tuzla Canton, Mr. Irfan Halilagi\u0107, and the President of the Cantonal Assembly, Mr. \u017darko Vujovi\u0107, visited the University Clinical Center Tuzla (UKC Tuzla), where they held a working meeting with the Director, Prof. Dr. \u0160ekib Umihani\u0107.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, they reviewed the outcomes of recent investments in medical equipment and infrastructure, made possible with the support of the Tuzla Canton Government, and discussed plans for future development. Director Umihani\u0107 emphasized significant progress, particularly the successful installation of a state-of-the-art linear accelerator and its associated equipment. The device is already operational and plays a crucial role in the treatment of oncology patients, marking a major step forward in the quality of cancer care at the Center.<\/p>\n
The newly installed linear accelerator, with an expected lifespan of 7 to 10 years, has ensured the continued delivery of radiotherapy services for patients in the Tuzla Canton. Director Umihani\u0107 also noted that an upgrade of the existing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) device\u2014valued at over one million KM\u2014is currently in progress, alongside the planned procurement of a new, next-generation 3 Tesla MRI scanner.<\/span><\/p>\n UKC Tuzla currently operates four CT scanners, and efforts are underway to assess the market for acquiring a second linear accelerator, which would further expand the institution\u2019s radiotherapy capabilities.<\/p>\n In addition to equipment modernization, UKC Tuzla continues to implement a range of development projects focused on enhancing patient care. These include the procurement of additional medical equipment, improving patient accommodation conditions, and preparing project documentation for the construction of a new Emergency Center, all with the support of the Tuzla Canton Government.<\/p>\n Prime Minister Halilagi\u0107 emphasized that, over the past three years, the Tuzla Canton Government has invested more than 50 million KM in the development of UKC Tuzla.
