This year's theme is \u201cAudiology and Phoniatrics Today\u201d and the event is organized by the Clinic for Ear, Nose, Throat, and Head and Neck Surgery in collaboration with the Association of Tracheotomized Persons Tuzla.<\/p>\n
Prim. Dr. Ned\u017ead Salki\u0107, Head of the Clinic for Ear, Nose, Throat, and Head and Neck Surgery, emphasized the importance of such educational gatherings for both medical professionals and patients.<\/p>\n
\u201cOrganizing events like the Tuzla ENT School is of exceptional importance for our profession. It provides an opportunity to share knowledge, exchange experiences, and strengthen inter-institutional cooperation with colleagues from across Europe. We remain committed to advancing education and subspecialization, and, together with ongoing investments in modern equipment and improved working conditions, we aim to further elevate the standard of otolaryngology in Tuzla,\u201d said Dr. Salki\u0107.<\/p>\n
President of the Organizing Committee of the ENT School, Prof. Dr. Fuad Brki\u0107, announced that the two-day seminar will feature invited lectures by distinguished professors and physicians from Turkey, Croatia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Italy, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Tuzla ENT School has established itself as a center of continuous education for medical professionals in the field of otolaryngology. This year\u2019s symposium will include two main sessions, featuring ten expert lectures followed by a panel discussion. On the first day, we have also planned a dedicated workshop for patients who have undergone total laryngectomy,\u201d said Prof. Dr. Brki\u0107.<\/p>\n
He emphasized that the presence of internationally recognized experts will enrich the scientific program and foster meaningful exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices in otolaryngology.<\/p>\n
A co-organizer of this year\u2019s ENT School is the Association of Tracheotomized Persons Tuzla. The president of the Association, Dr. Lejla Toki\u0107, a specialist in otorhinolaryngology, announced a workshop that will be held as part of the ENT School, titled “Physiotherapy After Total Laryngectomy.”<\/p>\n
The workshop is intended for patients who have undergone a total laryngectomy due to laryngeal cancer and now live with a permanent tracheostomy.<\/p>\n
\u201cFollowing total laryngectomy, patients are left without their primary voice-producing organ, and it is essential to begin rehabilitation as soon as possible. Individuals who lose their ability to speak often withdraw socially, stop communicating, and face emotional isolation. The mission of our Association is to support these patients in reintegrating into everyday life. We teach them that living with a tracheostomy does not mean the end of an active life, they can still engage socially, and even swim and sing,\u201d said Dr. Toki\u0107.<\/p>\n
On this occasion Prof. Dr. \u0160ekib Umihani\u0107, Director of the University Clinical Center Tuzla, stated: \u201cThe Tuzla ENT School continues to grow in quality and international recognition with each passing year.
