{"id":20925,"date":"2026-03-09T14:41:14","date_gmt":"2026-03-09T13:41:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ukctuzla.ba\/ukctuzla\/?p=20925"},"modified":"2026-03-09T14:41:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T13:41:14","slug":"cadaveric-kidney-transplant-successfully-performed-at-ukc-tuzla","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ukctuzla.ba\/ukctuzla\/?p=20925&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Cadaveric Kidney Transplant Successfully Performed at UKC Tuzla"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"JUSTIFY\">The multidisciplinary kidney transplant team of the Public Health Institution University Clinical Center Tuzla (UKC Tuzla) successfully performed a cadaveric kidney transplant.<\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\">Thanks to the humane and generous act of a donor family from Sarajevo, a kidney was transplanted into a patient from Srebrenik.<\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\">\u201cAfter being informed that colleagues from Sarajevo had performed kidney explantation and that one kidney was allocated to Tuzla, the transplantation process was immediately organized. Two teams were formed, one responsible for preparing the kidney for transplantation and the other for preparing the patient and performing the transplant procedure. The surgery and postoperative course proceeded smoothly. The organ recipient is a 61-year-old man who had previously been on peritoneal dialysis,\u201d said the Head of the Clinic for Urology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Samed Jagodi\u0107.<\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\">In addition to Dr. Jagodi\u0107, the transplantation team included urologists Dr. Rasim Agi\u0107, Dr. Amel Muji\u0107, Dr. Haris \u0110ug, and Dr. Velid \u0160ehi\u0107. The procedure was also supported by vascular surgeons Dr. Nail \u0160ehi\u0107 and Dr. Ajdin Umihani\u0107, while anesthesia was administered by Dr. Jasmina Ahmetovi\u0107 \u0110ug.<\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\">The anesthetic technician was graduated technician Edin Glavi\u0107, and the surgical instrument technicians were graduated technicians Asmir Kamenjakovi\u0107, Edvir Feuki\u0107, and Moamer Hajdarbegovi\u0107.<\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\">According to the transplant program coordinator at UKC Tuzla, Dr. Lejla Vikalo, the patient\u2019s early postoperative course is progressing smoothly. The patient is currently accommodated in the Intensive Care Unit, and his vital parameters remain stable.<\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\">In addition to the multidisciplinary teams responsible for organ explantation and transplantation from the Clinic of Urology, the Clinic of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation, and the Clinic of Cardiovascular Surgery, the transplantation process also involves healthcare professionals from the Department of Nephrology, Hemodialysis and Transplantation within the Clinic of Internal Medicine, as well as expert teams from the Polyclinic for Transfusion Medicine, the Department of Pathology, the Polyclinic for Laboratory Diagnostics, the Hospital Pharmacy, and the Department of Psychological and Social Support.<\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\">The Director of the University Clinical Center Tuzla, Prof. Dr. \u0160ekib Umihani\u0107, expressed his gratitude to the multidisciplinary team of UKC Tuzla and to the healthcare professionals of the University Clinical Center Sarajevo for their prompt response and successful cooperation in carrying out the transplantation procedure.
