Special attention will also be given to young doctors and medical students through dedicated educational sessions and opportunities for active participation. In addition, a tailored program has been prepared for neurological medical technicians. “Numerous experts from the region and abroad will present the latest advancements in neurology. As one of the key branches of medicine, neurology greatly benefits from the exchange of practical experiences, which this meeting strongly promotes,” emphasized Prof. Dostović.

The scientific program will cover a wide range of topics. The opening session will focus on neurodegenerative diseases, particularly movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease. Subsequent sessions will address vascular diseases, with special emphasis on stroke, alongside further discussions on neurodegenerative conditions, including movement disorders and dementias.

Friday’s program will include sessions dedicated to dementias, with particular attention to multiple sclerosis, as well as additional discussions on vascular diseases and patient monitoring and management in intensive care settings. A session on neuromuscular diseases is also planned.

On Saturday, the morning session will be devoted to knowledge transfer, education, and clinical case presentations by resident and specialist physicians, representing a valuable contribution to the meeting. The final session will be dedicated to medical technicians, whose essential role and professional commitment significantly enhance the quality of neurological care.

Prof. Dostović underscored the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in neurology, as well as the need for coordinated collaboration across different levels of healthcare.

The journalists were also addressed by Prof. Dr. Omer Ć. Ibrahimagić, who emphasized that the organizers of this year’s meeting aimed to bring together distinguished lecturers from across the region, while also highlighting the important role of experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina in advancing neurology as a medical discipline. “The goal of this meeting is to keep pace with modern developments in medicine. Our intention is for this gathering, which has the characteristics of a mini-congress, to once again serve as a strong bridge of regional cooperation. We have a clear vision for future development, even though everyday life often reminds us of the challenges of modern society. Nevertheless, through meetings like this, we strive to strengthen mutual trust and further affirm the values of humanity and togetherness,” said Prof. Dr. Ibrahimagić.

The 17th Tuzla Neurological Meeting is organized by the Clinic for Neurology of the University Clinical Center Tuzla in cooperation with the Association of Neurologists of the Tuzla Canton.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Dževdet Smajlović provided a brief overview of the origins of the Tuzla Neurological Meetings, noting that the initial idea was to organize a one-day symposium that would gather leading experts from various fields of neurology and related disciplines. However, due to strong interest, the event gradually evolved into a major professional gathering, at times even held twice a year. “In the early years, the meetings were organized around specific groups of diseases. Over time, as interest grew, we significantly expanded the program, increased the number of lecturers, and extended the duration of the event. Today, these meetings have all the features of a mini- congress. In recent years, we have also introduced sessions for young neurologists, which are particularly important as they demonstrate continuity and confirm that we have highly capable successors. Additionally, we organize sessions for nurses and technicians, who are an indispensable part of the team and without whom we could not function at this level. Each meeting has its own theme. Last year’s meeting was dedicated to “Neurological Bridges of the Region.” Our goal is to continue building bridges in medicine, where we have already achieved significant results. We hope that the seventeenth meeting will be the most successful one so far,” emphasized Prof. Dr. Smajlović.

A press conference was held today at the University Clinical Center Tuzla to officially announce the 17th Tuzla Neurological Meeting, which will take place from 16 to 18 April 2026.
