Ass. Prof. Aleksandar Vujadinovi\u0107, head of the Clinic for Orthopedy and Trauma on that occasion said that the patient had a very rare condition that affects one in one million people. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"hr-HR\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">&#8221; A herniated disc was present in the area of the thoracic spine where the spinal cord due to its anatomical features is most sensitive to pressure and manipulations. For that reason instead of the conventional but inadequate back approach, we have decided to access the spine and the spinal cord through the chest to remove a herniated disc that had already led to myelopathy. The condition damaged the spinal cord to the point that results in a patient's ability to move independently.&#8221; explained Ass. Prof. Aleksandar Vujadinovi\u0107, and added that this surgery was a minimally invasive video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) done in cooperation with colleagues from the Clinic for Surgery.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"hr-HR\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Ass. Prof. Vujadinovi\u0107 also said that the postoperative course is uneventful and that the patient is doing well. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"hr-HR\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Members of the surgical team who performed surgery are orthopedists Ass. Prof. Aleksandar Vujadinovi\u0107, Dr. Mahir Ja\u0161arevi\u0107, Ass. Prof. Asmir Hrusti\u0107, Dr Elvir Ati\u0107, Dr. Armin Muhovi\u0107, surgeons Dr. Nermin Mu\u0161anovi\u0107 and dr.
