The University Clinical Center Tuzla (UKC Tuzla) has signed contracts for the procurement of modern medical equipment valued at 17,440,020.00 KM, including VAT. This major investment will significantly enhance the capacity and quality of healthcare services across the Tuzla Canton.
The contract was signed by Prof. Dr. Šekib Umihanić, Director of the University Clinical Center Tuzla, in the presence of Dr. Dušanka Bećirović, Minister of Health of Tuzla Canton.
The entire amount for this procurement has been secured by the Government of Tuzla Canton, reaffirming its strategic commitment to modernizing the healthcare system and improving working conditions for medical staff, as well as the overall experience and care for patients.
“This year, the Government of Tuzla Canton has allocated a total of 30 million KM to the University Clinical Center Tuzla. Of that amount, 4 million KM is earmarked for servicing the Blue Hospital loan, while 26 million KM is designated for the procurement of essential medical equipment, ensuring the highest quality of care for our patients,” stated Dr. Dušanka Bećirović, Minister of Health of Tuzla Canton.
According to Prof. Dr. Šekib Umihanić, Director of the University Clinical Center Tuzla, the newly purchased equipment includes two advanced angiography suites that will be installed in the Blue Hospital building. These will serve the needs of the Clinic for Cardiovascular Surgery, the Clinic for Invasive Cardiology, and the Clinic for Neurosurgery.
Additionally, the procurement includes three state-of-the-art C-arms and a new digital mammography unit for the Clinic for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, replacing the outdated device acquired in 2005. Cutting-edge diagnostic devices such as a 3 Tesla MRI and SPECT CT, along with vital equipment for the Department of Pathology at the Polyclinic for Laboratory Diagnostics, will significantly enhance the capabilities of the Clinical Center.
“The acquisition of this equipment will substantially improve diagnostic and therapeutic services for our patients, while also enabling our medical staff to work more efficiently with the latest technologies. This project represents another important step toward that goal,” emphasized Prof. Umihanić.
