A team of surgeons from the University Clinical Center Tuzla removed the organs from the donor in the Zenica Cantonal Hospital.
A multidisciplinary transplant team performed two kidneys transplantation surgeries on two patients from Sarajevo at the University Clinical Center Tuzla.
Today’s success in performing organ donation and transplantation surgeries will contribute to the further development of expertise in organ donation and transplantation medicine at the University Clinical Center Tuzla. This will result in more patients receiving life-saving transplants and enable them to lead healthier, longer lives.
The director of the University Clinical Center Tuzla Prof.Dr. Denijal Tulumović on this occasion commended the prompt responses of the entire transplant teams from Tuzla and the Cantonal Hospital Zenica, a large number of non- medical personnel, as well as the humanity of the donor’s family, who contributed that two transplant surgeries were successfully performed. Director Tulumović especially thanked colleagues from the Cantonal Hospital Zenica and members of the Tuzla Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs who secured and escorted the explanted organs and contributed to their fast transport to the Clinical Center Tuzla.
In addition to surgical health professionals, the multidisciplinary team included expert teams from the Polyclinic for Transfusion, the Polyclinic for Laboratory Diagnostics, the Hospital Pharmacy, the Department for Nephrology, Hemodyalisis and Transplantation Medicine, Clinic for Internal Medicine, and Sector for Technical Services.
