A press conference to brief the achievements of the University Clinical Centre Tuzla during the year 2016 was held today. Introductory statement to the press conference gave director Ass. Prof Nešad Hotić, who pointed out that the University Clinical Center Tuzla during the year 2016 for its patients has introduced new and sophisticated procedures of modern medicine, but also conducted training and continuing education for medical professionals.
According to him, the number of medical examinations and services has increased compared to the year 2015. The number of surgeries in an outpatient clinics has increased by 21%, the number of inpatients increased by 4%, while the overall number of treated patients increased by 2.5%. For the said period the number of specialist examinations and services has increased by 113 447 compared to the previous year.
The University Clinical Center Tuzla is the largest transplant surgery provider in Bosnia and Herzegovina.The actual number of transplant surgeries on an annual basis is the biggest so far. In 90% of cases all explanted organs are transplanted in Clinical Center Tuzla, only 10% in other hospitals. The number of transplanted kidneys performed in 2016 is 21, of which 9 were cadaver.
Our team has performed 6 cadaver transplants of cornea, 4 cadaver transplants of liver and 18 bone marrow transplants.
Giving that the most of the buildings within the University Clinical Center Tuzla exists for half a century, the most important buildings have received major renovations; Gradina building, the Clinic of Internal Medicine, the Clinic of Infectious Diseases, the Clinic for Children’s Diseases and the Clinic of Pulmonary Diseases.
At the end of a dynamic and summary presentation Ass.Prof. Hotić provided an overview on plans and priorities for the year 2017.
