Prof. Dr. Nermin Salkić, gastroenterologist at the Clinic for Internal Diseases of the Tuzla University Clinical Center, has recently been elected to the position of president of the Association of Gastroenterologists and Hepatologists of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The election of the president of the Association of Gastroenterologists and Hepatologists of Bosnia and Herzegovina took place at the regular meeting of the Assembly and the Board of Directors held on June 30 in Banja Luka.
Prof. Dr. Salkić has been unanimously elected president of this Association for four years. Also, the Association’s headquarters will be in Tuzla for the next four years.
Prof. Salkić is a specialist in internal medicine and a subspecialist in gastroenterohepatology. At the same time he is a full professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Tuzla. In his career, in addition to improving and introducing new and innovative procedures and approaches in the field of gastroenterology, hepatology, ultrasound and endoscopy, promoting the use of new methods of educating doctors of all profiles, he also has an impressive bibliography that includes two authored books, co-authorship of four other books, and over 60 scientific papers published in prestigious medical journals worldwide.
The election of Prof. Dr. Nermin Salkić as president of the Association will contribute to the improvement of diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the digestive system, but also to the development of the Association’s strategy regarding the creation of national programs for the prevention of colon cancer, the complete eradication of chronic viral hepatitis, as well as the education of doctors and nurses in the field of basic digestive endoscopy and ultrasound.
