Ass. Prof. Ivan Veličković, anesthesiologist and Dr. Chad Rosen, a resident in anesthesiology from Brooklyn the United States, paid a visit to the University Clinical Centre today. The guests received Prof. Dr. Fahrija Skokić, medical director with her associates. The main objectiv of the meeting was to discuss possible cooperation and partnership in the field of education and training, as well as the exchange of scientific and technical information between the University Clinical Centre Tuzla and humanitarian organization Kybele.
Kybele is a non-profit humanitarian organization dedicated to improving childbirth safety worldwide through educational partnerships. According to Ass. Prof. Veličković, Kybele, Inc. creates healthcare partnerships. “We bring US, Canadian, Australian and European healthcare professionals together to work in teams that travel to host countries. Once there, we work along side doctors and nurses in their home environments. Kybele team members donate their time and experience to provide hands-on training in techniques that improve healthcare safety. Our goal is to prevent childbirth related injury and death which affect millions of women and newborns each year.” says Ass. Prof. Veličković
Kybele programs have enlisted over 552 medical volunteers from 64 institutions in 10 countries worldwide from 28 different disciplines including anesthesiologists, obstetricians, neonatologists, internists, nurses and midwifes.
Since 2004, Kybele has conducted medical training in Armenia, Brazil, Croatia, Egypt, Georgia, Ghana, Mongolia, Romania, Serbia, Turkey, and Vietnam.
